Rescue and Recovery patch to fix the blue screen issue caused by the lack of the AHCI driver – Win XP

This patch is designed to fix the blue screen issue caused by the lack of the AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) driver when the system starts from the Rescue and Recovery(R) workspace.

Note:

1. If the platform of your system is Calpella and the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP operating system installed on your system is not a Lenovo preloaded Windows XP operating system, you must download and install this compatibility patch before you download and install the Rescue and Recovery program to your system.
   
   The Calpella platform based systems include all the ThinkPad(R) Edge systems and ThinkPad T410, T410s, T510, X201, X201s, X201t, and W701 systems.


2. Other systems must have the Rescue and Recovery 3.1, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, or 4.21 program installed.

This patch may also work with other systems that meet the system requirements below. However, no testing has been done with other systems and no support is provided for using the Rescue and Recovery program on any system other than those listed above.

System requirements

• Windows XP operating system with Service Pack 1 or later
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later
• 1.5 GB of free hard disk drive space (required for installation)
• 512 MB of memory (recommended)
• 8 MB of VRAM (Video Random Access Memory) shared memory set in the BIOS
• Latest version of the BIOS

Downloading and installing the patch

1. Click the file link for the executable on the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory to save the executable.
3. Go to the directory where the executable is saved.
4. Double-click the executable and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Verifying the patch version

To verify the patch version, do the following:

1. Right-click the downloaded executable and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
2. Click the Details tab. The version information will be available.
