This ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility updates the BIOS program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.
This release supports the following IBM systems:
- ThinkPad X20, X21
This release supports the following operating systems:
- Windows 95 OSR2 or later(*1)
- Windows 98, 98SE(*2)
- Windows Me
- Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 or later
- Windows 2000

*2: Before using this BIOS Update Utility with Windows 98 SE, IBM recommends applying the Windows 98 SE Shutdown Supplement.
- Before updating to this BIOS release, you must also update the H8 embedded controller code to version 1.36 or later. There is a link to the latest H8 code at the top of the additional information section.
